Some IDM courses are offered in an online format. These courses cover the core content of the curriculum. The online nature of these courses does not provide the full experience that in school courses do. It’s just not possible.
Seven students from KEC-IDM took part in a game game at New Media Manitoba on January 20th, 2020. They met developers and artists from Ubisoft and Bitspace Development and worked in teams. In spite of working on borrowed laptops and having to update software, the two teams completed playable prototypes. Mr. Thomson and Mr. Sun got the chance to network with industry and other teachers.
This year many Interactive Digital Media courses will take place in refreshed computer labs in Room 215, the main IDM classroom and Room 211, the Computer Science Lab. The computers in Room 215 were selected to provide support for high end 3D graphics and Virtual Reality projects. A new server, shared with Photography will facilitate storage of large projects, and allow access to collaborative projects from any computer in the lab.
